Links and Resources

I’ve included some links to resources like websites, TED talks, podcasts, and people I follow.

These are all resources that I’ve found independently and I receive no compensation for listing them on my website. None of these resources have requested to be listed, these are resources that I love and use regularly both professionally and personally.

Podcasts

I love listening to Podcasts. They’re a great way to gain knowledge for those of you like me who aren’t big readers. Here are some of my favorites:

The Peter Attia Drive

Dr. Attia interviews experts on ways to live better and longer. A lot of these episodes lose me as a lot are very medically focused. The ones on mental health are phenomenal. One of my personal favorites is the three-part series on Sleep with Dr. Matthew Walker.

Dear Therapists

Therapists Guy Winch and Lori Gottlieb spend time with an actual person and do a session covering the topic from the guest. They give good practical advice and do a follow-up with the guest. I recommend checking out episodes that might resonate with you as there are good takeaways for clinicians and non-clinicians alike.

The Practice of the Practice

This is a great resource for those wanting to grow their business or practice. While a lot of it is aimed at mental health practices, there’s a lot of great information for people in all businesses and fields.

Therapist Uncensored

Another podcast is aimed at mental health professionals but also has a lot of great information for anyone looking to learn more about various topics related to mental health.

TED Radio Hour

This podcast takes multiple TED talks and implements them in a podcast form interviewing TED speakers. I highly recommend the episode on “Dialogue and Exchange

Sex, Love, and Addiction

Dr. Rob Weiss is an expert in the field and covers multiple topics on his podcast. Check out his episode on the reality of recovery from sex addiction. He’s also written several books so check out his work.

Betrayal Recovery Radio

Dr. Jake Porter’s podcast focuses on the betrayed partner of sex addiction. This is a great podcast for both partners and those struggling with sex addiction and betrayal trauma.

Resources

These are some websites, TED Talks, and other resources that are great to check out.

Greater Good in Action

This resource from UC Berkeley lists numerous science and evidence-backed techniques and practices designed to help with happiness, forgiveness, compassion, and many more. I particularly like the “Three Good Things” practice.

The Happy Secret to Better Work

This is my all-time favorite TED Talk. Dr. Shawn Achor gives an entertaining and practical talk on why we’re designed to search for the negative, and what you can do about it. It’s only 12 minutes long so check it out soon!

Some of my favorite people to follow

Dr. Shawn Achor- Host of my favorite TED Talk and a huge contributor to the Positive Psychology movement.

Andrew Solomon- Advocate for mental health and someone who speaks from a place of lived experience.

Gary Gulman- One of the best comedians out there who focuses a lot on mental health and speaks openly about his battle with depression.

Mike Birbiglia- Another one of my favorite comedians. Check out the album “My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend”. The last track still gives me goosebumps.

Brené Brown-Incredibly popular for a good reason. Check out her TED Talk on vulnerability

Dr. Matthew Walker- Once I learned more about sleep and changed my sleep behaviors, it was a world of difference. I encourage all of my clients to get better sleep for an almost instant impact.

Simon Sinek- A ton of great stuff from his talks, I recommend his popular TED Talk on how great leaders inspire action.

Sam Harris- An expert on meditation and a slew of other topics. He’s got a great podcast as well as a meditation app called Waking Up.
